RB30 Aussie block is a much better and cheaper choice. Also, I think OS only sells their blocks as part of their kits. Did you know that the OS RB30 blocks are just decked RB26's while the Aussie RB30 is a much stouter, stronger, full casting?
the Japanese enomomy will a$$ rape you if you don't know what you are getting into! LOL!!
I didn't know there were different spec Aussie RB30 blocks. But yeah, I knew they were cheap. RIPS will do a full RB30 3.0, fully built short block for NZ$8750.
I also heard that the OS blocks won't take much power. They can only be used for a responsive setup with smallish turbos. They won't take big power without the cylinders going out of round. This is what my Japanese tuner has heard from the tuners in mainland Japan.
The OS RB30 is a decked stock block (~18mm?) thick or so and the OS RB315 is a decked N1 block (~26mm?) thick or so. The Aussie RB30 is 30mm higher deck than the stock 26. That's why you can go up to a 3.4 kit. Although, I would probably limit it to the Nitto 3.2 liter kit. With the 3.4 relief cuts have to be done to the bottom of the block for rod clearancing.
